Trade union trends to immerge as interest group which
act as a welfare broker rather than class organizations. The central leadership
is dominated largely by outsiders. They are not recruited from the ranks of
workers. However, the largely ethically based trade unions in the plantation
sector have not contributed to making the workers more conscious of their
identity as a class.
Primary purpose of
the trade union is protecting members rights and providing fair treatments
